How to Actually Get the Table.

Every booking rule that matters

In Aspen the hard part of dinner is not choosing the restaurant. It is knowing that one books on Resy, the next only by phone, a third opens its book sixty days out at a time nobody tells you, and the best burger in town takes no reservations at all.

Every room here runs its own rules, and in December and February they matter more than the menu. This page collects them in one place: where each restaurant takes bookings, how far ahead the book opens where the restaurant says so, what it charges if you cancel late, and where you can still walk in. Where a restaurant does not publish something, we say so rather than guess.

Five things that actually work

1. Set the alert, not just the date. Resy's Notify and OpenTable's "Notify Me" send a push when a table frees up at the time you want. Cancellations in Aspen are common two or three days out, when travel plans change, and the alert is how locals get them.

2. Book at 5:30 or after 8:45. The book is full at seven. It is rarely full at half past five, and on a ski day you will be hungry by then anyway.

3. Sit at the bar. White House Tavern, Kenichi and several hotel rooms keep their bars for walk-ins. Two people at a bar is the easiest table in town.

4. Call. Cache Cache, Steakhouse No. 316 and The Wild Fig all say it plainly: if the app shows nothing, ring. Phone tables and late releases do not always reach the apps, and Casa Tua and Matsuhisa are phone-first anyway.

5. Go down-valley. Basalt and Carbondale are twenty and forty minutes away and rarely full. On the busiest nights of the season they are the answer.

· On the mountain: Tock, still ·

Tock restaurants started appearing inside Resy in August 2026, after American Express folded the two together, but the bookings still finish on Tock. That matters on the mountain: Cloud Nine, The Cabin, Sam's and the Alpin Room all book there, and Cloud Nine is prepaid and non-refundable. Our on-mountain dining guide has each one.

Run a restaurant here? If guests cannot find how to book you, they book someone else. Aleksandar Studio builds restaurant websites with the menu and the booking up front. And to be listed or featured in this guide, see our partner options →
